Industry-Based Certifications Protocol

Purpose

The purpose is for the campus to have the most current data of industry-based certifications earned by students in SKYWARD for Public School Accountability under College, Career, Military Readiness (CCMR) and in identifying students achieving a Performance Acknowledgement for graduation.

Details

The process will include the steps needed for coding certifications in the Student Information System (SKYWARD) and for reporting in the Public Education Information Management System (PEIMS).

10 School Days within the Certification Attained Date

Teacher Responsibility: Certifying Teacher logs and scans the certification into the assigned Google Drive folder. Printed copy of actual certification is given to the CTE Counselor to be placed in the student file.

Counselor Responsibility: If the certification belongs to a Graduating Student and is identified for Public School Accountability (CCMR), the counselor enters it into SKYWARD using the appropriate code under “TX/NCLB” - “Grad Info” and utilizing the first available slot (First-Second-Third) “ . . . Post-Secondary Certification-Licensure” counselor enters it into SKYWARD using the appropriate code under “TX/NCLB” - “Performance Ack” - “Certification/Licenses” - “Met Date” use certificate date - ”Comment” Type correct Certificate Name

If the certification belongs to a Graduating Student and is identified for the Carl D. Perkins Grant, the counselor enters it into SKYWARD using the appropriate code under “TX/NCLB” - “Performance Ack” - “Certification/Licenses” - “Met Date” use certificate date - ”Comment” Type correct Certificate Name

End of Each Semester and Summer

CTE Department Responsibility: Data verification is completed by reviewing the counselor’s SKYWARD data entry and the teacher’s Student Certification Log. Certifications not previously reported will be mass uploaded into SKYWARD by Computer Services Personnel.
